The Brand
Let us take you on a journey. Our journey.
Determination and craftsmanship, served with a real sense of provenance – that is how OYESTER captures the true spirit of the Dutch seacoast. Just like the coastline we are vibrant, we stay bold and we keep looking for opportunities to celebrate life to the fullest.
By merely using natural ingredients and by being an official supporter of the Surfrider Foundation Holland Coast, OYESTER aims to make the world more aware of the uniqueness of the ocean, the beaches and sea life.
Being literally and figuratively thirsty, for both beverages and having an impact, our goal was to create distinctive drinks flavoured by nature. This resulted in the launch of OYESTER44 Maritime Vodka in 2017 and the kick-off of OYESTER Maritime Hard Seltzers in 2020. While containing different ingredients and embodying different experiences, each of these products have one thing in common: they’re channeling our motto “Faith, Hope, Love” in the shape of undeniably tasty drinks.
The Founder
In 2017, OYESTER was founded and crafted by passionate foodie Chris Liebau. He couldn’t discover a spirit that was in line with his passion for the sea, seafood and the maritime lifestyle, so he decided to make his own. Sometimes, things are that easy.
Being determined to create drinks that stand out in both quality and taste, Chris’ preference to do things differently became clear very soon. The beautiful surroundings and the unique character of the Dutch coast motivated him to raise awareness for the nautical life in the best way he considered possible: by producing all natural drinks that will lighten up your day.
The Origin
Little did you know that the “YE” in OYESTER reveals a lot about the origin of the brand. Want to know a secret? “YE” stands for the small village of Yerseke in Zeeland, The Netherlands, where local fishing boats use these letters to identify themselves on the water. Right there, the idea for OYESTER was born.
Inspired by Zeeland, the Netherlands’ least populous province of which over 1.000 sq. kilometer is seawater, OYESTER wholeheartedly embraces and celebrates its terroir. We started creating products that reflect the power of the sea and the beauty of the wind swept landscape that surrounds this old fishing town. Besides, we decided to predominantly use the typically Dutch “Royal Blue” colour that became famous from Delft pottery made in the 16th century.
